ABOUT
Wounded Healers, Human Whisperers is an ongoing and ever growing body of documentary work about alternative healing and spiritual connection within a Medicine Horse community on Vancouver Island, BC.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I'm Denisa, a graduate from Vancouver Island University where I spent seven years exploring digital media and visual arts with an emphasis on documentary photography.
-- Horses. Are. The love of my life. --

My earliest memories revolve around horses, and for a long time as a child, I was convinced I, indeed, was a horse. I've always wanted to have horses, be near them, touch them, interact with them.

I met Halliday Walsh and her Chiron herd in the summer 2015, and have since been going to visit as often as I can, either to work with the horses, or to blend in with the human community around them.

As a photographer, I also see these noble animals and their amazing human leader in terms of images and stories that I have to share with the world. There are very few photo stories about this subject matter anywhere, so, naturally, I am setting out on a mission to create some.

My goal is to capture the moments that portray what holistic equine therapy means and entails. And I want these photographs to tell a story about it from the everyday-life perspective: What Chiron is, who the horses and humans are, and how they all work with those who need and are open to the universal healing energy.

ABOUT THE MENTOR
Halliday Walsh is the ultimate Wounded Healer.
A certified shiatsu practitioner and the woman behind Chiron Medicine Horses, she is dedicated to share her gift, knowledge and experience with humans and animals to provide a creative and healing environment. I see her as a dear friend, my guide, teacher, mentor, and a role model.

Halliday is the author of a large portion of the writing on this website and the main inspiration for the rest, written by me.

Visit the Chiron website for more information about Halliday's practice.
