BLUE STAR BORN
/September 2018 update/
Blue finally revealed himself to my lens a few days ago. It felt like a ceremonial unveiling: on a warm luminous morning of the harvest full moon, he had me follow him through the labyrinth and court him in the forest, until he felt ready to stand still for a few clicks of the shutter; stillness being only a construct, of course. Even without moving physically, he was dancing with the whole color spectrum.

"The very first shot I took of Blue Star Born, the newest member of the medicine herd. I was resting on the ground in the center of the labyrinth when he strolled by and cast a cooling shadow on my face. I couldn't see against the shine so I snapped a photo from the hip and looked at the screen. And there he was, being exactly who he is. Calm. Lanky. Perfect. Nothing less. Nothing more." (May 2018)
Blue is a beautiful grey thoroughbred that has been working hard to transition into the Medicine Herd from whatever life he was living as a show jumper at a conventional stable. Although I've had the chance to witness first hand the mind blowing work he's done with clients, Blue still hasn't really shown himself to me (and my camera) in his full visual form. Only fragments, angles, details so far. It is a beautiful process of slowly unveiling of his equine beauty.
